Exploring Avignon

Today we explored Avignon. We first went to the Palais de Papes. Alistair was not as interested in the architecture or history of the 14th century palace as he was the "tunnels" (staircases) and the "phone" (Alyssa's audio guide handset). He enjoyed waving to people from the tower.

After exploring the palace, we went for a walk to the Rocher des Doms, where you have a great view of the Rhone River.

We then walked out to the end of the Pont Saint-Benezet, a bridge built in the 12th century. Alistair was most interested in the flowing water.

After our long day of sightseeing (and after Alistair's nap), we had dinner in the Place de Papes. Alistair enjoyed his fries.
