Today we took Alistair to have his picture taken with Santa. Last year he clung to Alyssa and cried when she put him on Santa's lap. (We have a nice picture of Alistair with Santa standing behind Alistair in the chair.) This year we talked about Santa beforehand and read some books. We brought a Thomas train for Santa to give to Alistair. When Alistair saw Santa, he again clung to Alyssa. The photographer very patiently encouraged Alistair to lessen his grip. When Alyssa turned her body so that Alistair could see the photographer, he closed his eyes shut. Alistair thanked Santa for the train and waved goodbye before we left and even looked at him for a whole minute, but he did not sit on Santa's lap.
As we left Alistair said, "Santa scary." On the drive home he alternated "Santa scary," with "Santa Claus train nice."
